High-Def wars over?

And the winner is: Blu-Ray??

We hate to say we told you so, but we told you so! If you read our previous post here, then you can see we were hinting that the clear victor of the Hi-Def wars would be the mighty Blu-Ray. Well fiends, with the recent announcement of...Warner Bros defection from being exclusively HD-DVD to going exclusively Blu-Ray and other camps sure to follow, it is looking like the winner of this fiercely fought war is Blu-Ray.

Yeah, that might be a bit premature at this point but the jello is jigglin' for HD-DVD. The shakeout is in progress as we speak. It means the majority of the studios are now Blu-Ray exclusive Blu-Ray supportors. I mean we got Warner Bros now alongside Sony, 20th Century Fox, New Line Cinema, Buena Vista, Lions Gate, MGM, Fox/ Searchlite, Miramax, & Sony/Screen Gems. This leaves the HD-DVD camp with only Weinstein, Universal, & Paramount (but they have the option to run if HD-DVD doesn't pan out). Analyst believe Apple will officially launch Blu-ray support at Macworld San Francisco. Rumors have also been swirling that even Microsoft, who has HD-DVD drives in their XBox360 console, is even considering switching sides. Although those rumors are just rumors at this point.

Bottom line is that it's not lookin' pretty for HD-DVD. Supporters of the format are jumping ship like it was the Titanic. Blu-Ray is gaining a stranglehold on the market and it doesn't look like it will let go anytime soon! We hate to say we told you so, but we told you so!!
