Japan IDs all it's citizens!
RealID is a scary thought. I mean just think if the government knew about your every move and collected all your personal data. Well the Japanese have been using this method for a long time now--but not many citizens are concerned about it. The Juki Net (Residents Registration Network) has been stealthily operating since 1992. Basically it assigns an 11-digit number to every citizen in Japan! The type of data that is collected includes (but not limited to) name, address, date of birth, and gender. Alot of the citizens seem to be unaware of the existence of this government entity. But you better believe it exists! Juki Net has been exposed recently because some citizens around the country sued them, due to concerns of information misuse or leakage. An Osaka court ruled against the system, the Japanese Supreme Court has just ruled it is not unconstitutional, on the grounds that the data will be used in a bona-fide manner and there exists zero risk of further leakage. There is a longstanding registration system for Japanese citizens, but this system is proof that there are still strict governments that will not let the citizens think for themselves. They would rather rule with an iron fist. The strangest part of this whole thing is that the Japanese citizens have been pretty much mute on the whole subject due to either lack of knowledge or fear. Sad indeed. 'Til next time fiends.
